Workbench Log - November 2008

11/29/08

The Lowndes show was very small, but we had pretty good luck - paid our expenses for Chimneyville, so that is good.

The main reason we did the show was to set up the booth all together once before we went to Chimneyville.

We met a lot of nice people and found out about a few other shows.

We are trying to get ready for Chimneyville and for a show at Lowndes State Park.  Lots of jewelry work and lots of sewing of canvas bags and such.  Lots of details and so many late nites.

This picture is a copy of the poster we are having made for the booth.  It shows Don's stone set knots.  He did a great job on the photo.

The name of this ring is Captain's Lady.  It is a Lapis set with a green topaz faceted oval, freshwater pearls and sterling silver beads.

It is my version of what is in the treasure chest on that desert island we have all heard of.

The free form Lapis was not hard to set at all.

I have been working on just how to set faceted stones in weavings and now have a mess behind.  I don't want to see the typical fastenings associated with setting stones in weavings behind a clear faceted stone.

Each of these stones is a different shape and each one needs a little different setting technique.

They were not easy to set, but they are secure in the settings
