A good press release on a newsworthy event may help you get some publicity.  Some of these ideas may help get your press release published.

Press Release Tips

·         Send your press release to the correct person

·         Be sure it is grammatically correct

·         Check your spelling carefully (spell check doesn't always work)

·         Create a compelling headline

·         Keep it short

·         Tailor it to fit the publication

·         Offer or include a digital copy so the editor doesn't have to type it all out.

·         Include your name, phone number, address, website address and e-mail address

·         Mail your press release - don't hand deliver it

·         Include a photograph

·         Include a date line

·         If your press release is published, follow up with a thank you note.

Send a Press Release when you

·         Publish a website

·         Win an award

·         Create a new line

·         Accepted into a juried show

·         Have an anniversary such as 10 years of craft shows or 3 years in a certain guild.

·         Offer a class

·         Speak to a local civic or service group

·         Find trends developing in jewelry or accessories

·         Link with a current trend

·         Discover a new technique

·         Give results of a poll you have taken

·         Donate to a charity

·         Demonstrate at an event

·         Start a newsletter or on-line magazine

·         Are appointed to a special committee within an organization associated with your jewelry design

·         Teach a class at a senior center or after school group

·         Receive a grant

·         Your work appears in a book or an article

·         You teach a free class in the local school district or retirement facility

·         Contribute a piece to a silent auction, charity auction or donate work to be sold to support a scholarship fund.
