Don Coulson
Don Coulson has
recently retired from a career in construction management for a
large engineering company and has much more time for his jewelry
work. He has been working with wire for about 4 years, but in
the last 2 years his focus has turned to knotted jewelry.
He
lived aboard his boat for 12 years and has cruised extensively.
Basic seamanship skills include marlinespike work - the tying of
knots. It was only natural to translate the knots to silver.
In Don's view, the finest pieces come from the combination of
materials, craftsmanship and creativity.
He brings the precision and
aesthetic design developed in his work life to his jewelry. His
knotted jewelry is influenced by his long-term love for the sea
and boats.
Don is also a jewelry photographer whose
attention to detail creates beautifully lighted and
perfectly composed photographs.
He is a juried exhibiting member of the Craftsmen's
Guild of Mississippi.
