Larimar
The soft blues of the Caribbean are
captured in each of these pieces of. It is a form of
Pectolite and sometimes is also known as Atlantis Stone because it is
thought that part of Atlantis is in the Caribbean. It is found
only in a difficult-to-access location in the Dominican Republic in an
inactive volcano.
Though the local people of the area
have been aware of the stone for many years, it only emerged as a
gemstone in 1974. Legend says that the people had always been able
to find the stones on the beach. When no more stones were
accessible from the beach, the people followed the stream up to find a
deposit of these lovely stones
These are shown larger than they are
so you can see the detail. Approximate measurements are provided
so you can see how your designs will work with the stones. We have
done our best to photograph and show the stones as they actually are.
The Larimar is not as blue on our monitor as it is in the stone.
