Workbench Log - June / July 2006

7/29/06

I have spent several weeks learning to solder.  I am still not that good at it, but I enjoy it and this necklace and the matching earrings turned out pretty well for a beginner.

I wore out my little hand torch and bought a bigger torch from Rio Grande.  I doesn't heat much more but works ok.  I am thinking of an oxygen acetylene setup.

ShowCase is finally finished and ready to download.  I have sold a few and hope it keeps up.  It has been a huge project and I am ready to go back to making jewelry.

Of course with the work on ShowCase being so constant for so long (I am only 6 months past deadline), the websites both need a lot of work.  There is always so much to do it seems.

Jeweler at Farmer's Market

7/9/06

Went to the farmer's market and there was a lady with beads.  They were very nice beads and she had calligraphy earring tags.  The table was high enough to look, butthe wind was givingher a problem.

7/5/06

Sassy is helping me make a bead ensemble for Amy's belly dancing costume.  We did a neck piece, earrings, an ear hangover, 2 slave bracelets, a belly band and sandals.

I don't think I am much of a beader.  She wanted red and gold and I found that there are just not that many red beads available.  Topaz beads would have been very pretty.

Moving to
Kansas City

6/29/06

We traveled to Kansas City for a job.  We are to be there for a couple of months.  We will be in a campground in Platte City.

Teaching at the
Beaded Frog

6/03/06

We were able to teach our first class at the Beaded Frog and then Don had to leave for Kansas City and I taught the second one alone and taught the first one of the nalbinding class.  Sad-to-say, we were called away and I had to give back most of the money and ut the class short.

06/1 - 06/15/06

Spent the first 3 weeks of June working on the farm.  The garden is coming along very well.  We have cantaloupes, eggplant and strawberries.  Really very nice to have a garden.  I am raising a lot of vegetables in pots also.

The kittens started eating.  They are adorable.  They didn't have any confusion about what to do with the food when I put it down for them.
