I
am still working on pieces to teach at Wildacres and I think
these earrings can be versatile enough to be interesting.
We will be doing the two strand flourishes bracelet
which can be versatile also - can use crystals, set
cabochons or make it without any stones.
I just have to figure out how much of the finer wire
that I need.

I
finally got a chance to do my own version of the Tucuman
Bracelet.
I wanted do a woven clasp. It was much more work than I
ever expected. The larger stone is a crazy lace agate with
a beautiful cut and polish and the smaller stone on the other
side of the clasp is a Mexican fire opal.
The
smaller stone kind of tucks under the larger one. I did a
lot of weaving on the back side of the larger stone to make it
smooth and comfortable on the wrist. One thing I am very
careful of with my jewelry is that it must be comfortable to
wear.
Right now I am quite excited about the piece. Sometimes I
do lose interest or become disenchanted with pieces after they
have been done for a while. I look at some of my earlier
pieces and they are not all that good. I hope to get
better with each piece.

We did a show for the ABWA and got to trot out the new
display cases. They really are beautiful. We ended
up getting the LED lighting and they do give a wonderful look to
the silver jewelry. Most of what we are doing is silver.

Julia Daily, the Executive Director of the Craftsmen's Guild
of Mississippi came from Jackson to talk with the Aberdeen Arts
Council about Standards and Jurying. We were so very lucky
to have input from someone who really knows. We are slowly
getting organized and working step by step. Better to get
it right now rather than having to reorganize later on.

I cannot believe it is already August. We have been
unbelievably busy. We have to prepare to teach at
Wildacres in mid September, and there is so much to be done.
Don has about 6 new designs to do and I have 3 new pieces to
teach this year. Eeeeek!
