Workbench Log - September 2006

9/30/06

I have been toying with the idea of these woven pendants for the last few months and a tutorial was available online, so I bought it  I followed it for a while, but sort of fell off.  All I really wanted to do was understand the basics so I could go on with it.

These pendants are quite fascinating to make and they tend to take on their own personality.  This one is huge.  It is probably 3 1/2 inches tall.  That is far too big, but I was trying to get my handle on how to go about structuring one of them.  I kept adding beads and stones to cover up the structure of the pendant.

We each got a new workbench.  I don't know how we worked before.  They are not large, but have just the right arrangement and storage so we can work and keep our tools.  We do need lights for the benches.  They are small enough to take to the camper with us I think.

I am nearly at the end of the dilation process on my eye and soon I hope to be much better.  It has been a real drag to do anything at all productive.

Eye Problems

9/15/06

I am having problems with my eye and have to keep it dilated for about 3 weeks.  Unfortunately it very much limits what I can do with the jewelry.  I am learning to weave the free form pieces.  They are very fascinating and you can go so much farther with the wire than to just weave it.
