Workbench Log - September 2007

9/5/07

Crunch time.  I found out we have 5 days instead of 6 days to teach, so I have too many projects!  I hope that works out.  On top of that, my right hand has gone under.  It is both tingling an hurting from fingertips to below my wrist.  Rest, ice, medication and splints for me the rest of the day.  Have had 2 intensive days of writing tasks to get done and now I can quit typing for a while.

9/4/07

We spent the weekend tying bowlines.  The pendant on the left is one of Don's pieces and I did the earrings.  I think the lower loop on the earrings is too large and I like the more rounded piece that Don did.

He is working on some twisted wire and I hope to have them up soon.

It just dawned on me today that I have only 1 weekend before classes start!

9/2/07

This is the jig used for the Carrick Bend Ring.  We used brass rod for the pegs and it seemed to be smooth and easy to deal with.  I polished the ends with a nail buffer to make them smooth.

I am still undecided as to whether to tie each knot a wire at a time or use 2 wires on the first layout.  Right now I am thinking that 1 wire at a time is a little easier.

9/1/07

The handouts for Wildacres are ready.  The books are just about 60 pages with each project detailed and photographed.  I hope I haven't planned too many pieces for the week.
