Workbench Log - September 2008

Here are some of the pieces that came out of the class.  Very nice work  - creative and well-crafted.  Miraculous progress!  I was so proud of them.

The class is very intense and really needs to be taught in 2 or even three weeks.

We will be teaching a combination woven, knotted and braided jewelry class at William Holland in June.  That should be a very interesting and lively class.

Don and I will each have the students about 2 1/2 days.  We plan to have 12 students if we can and split them so they have a chance to build their skills a little more slowly.

Time for Wildacres.  I had a nice hard-working class of 5 and Don had 2 knotters in his class.  We worked hard in class, but didn't come in during the evening as we had before, but I did find that the students were sometimes working until 3:00 am on their pieces.  It is a huge amount of work to do in a short time.

The pieces were very well crafted and creative.  Lovely work.

This is a finished woven pendant with an azurite / malachite stone.  It looks a lot like the stone that was sold to me as a genesis stone.

Definitely a little too complicated for a tutorial I believe, though I might be able to teach it one-on-one.

It isn't really hard to do, but it is a little hard to fit.  Maybe time for a video.

Something very silly - I am wanting to write a couple of tutorials, but my nails are so awful I don't want them in pictures --

I have been working on a second woven pendant for Wildacres.  This one is a little difficult because you have to weave then fit and weave then fit.

This photo does not do any justice at all to the stone.  It is a true purple chariote and quite fantastic.
